Working with clay sparks creative choices. I began earning a living as a pottery instructor. New
opportunities developed. Moving from Colorado to South Carolina in 1990, provided a  totally
new creative portal...
Equipped with one rolling pin, one small kiln, 100 lbs of clay, along with a road map of the south,
Burk'art began operations in 1991. Now, in 2010 there are 3 distinct styles at Burkart Clayworks,
bold colors, a garden motif,  or a Nativity Scene...the clay works my imagination.   
I use petals and other objects found in mother nature to create the textures for Nature's
Collage. Soft delicate glazes are brushed on one petal at a time, making each piece unique.

Fast, fun, and affordable clayworks... I lit the first lotus tea light, and was astounded
by the shadow. Inspired by the playful shadow, FUnFORDable Clay works were
